Signature Racing Drink
50 ml (1.75 oz) Rye whiskey
15 ml (0.5 oz) Fernet-Branca
10 ml (0.33 oz) Demerara syrup (1:1)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
10 ml (0.33 oz) Argentinian Malbec (for float)
1 twist Grapefruit peel (garnish)
Chill a Nick & Nora or coupe. Set aside a fresh, wide grapefruit peel for the finish.
In a mixing glass, add rye whiskey, Fernet-Branca, demerara syrup, and Angostura bitters. Fill with cold ice and stir for 20–25 seconds until well-chilled and silky.
Strain into the chilled glass. Gently float the Malbec over the back of a barspoon to form a thin red layer, then express the grapefruit peel over the surface and place it as garnish.
